Who can be a candidate for ReLEx SMILE ?Read 2,419

ReLEx SMILE is the latest technology to treat refractive issue. SMILE requires only one single laser machine, namely the Femtosecond Laser. Therefore, the surgery will take less time. The incision of ReLEx SMILE is small, approximately 3 to 4 millimeters. A smaller incision means a faster recovery wiith a shorter recovery period. Patients can go back to work sooner. The treatment result is highly efficient as well.

If you have an active lifestyle or job, ReLEx SMILE may be a better option for you than LASIK or similar procedures.

Who is a good candidate for SMILE? I General Requirements can be candidate for ReLEx SMILE :

• You should be 20 years or older.

• Your eye prescription should not have changed in the last year.

• Myopia, for refraction up to -10 D, (including astigmatism up to 5 D)

• Your overall eye health must be generally good (no eye disease).

• No pregnancy, no breast feeding.

Some people are not candidates for SMILE because of the reasons as follows;

• An unstable refractive error

• Who have skin or other disease that can affect healing

• Cornea abrasions

• Advanced glaucoma

• A cataract affecting vision

• Uncontrolled diabetes

• Who are pregnant or breast feeding.
